Riccardo Truccolo poured in 17 points to lead Italy into the Quarter-Finals of the U20 European Championship with a 67-59 victory over Russia.
Italy captured their first win of the Qualifying Round Group E but it was enough to reach the final eight with a 1-4 record as Stefano Sacripanti's team needed to win by at least six points to advance. Tommaso Raspino added 11 points and Matteo Da Ros chipped in 10 points for the winners.
France used first half outside shooting and an outstanding overall showing by Edwin Jackson second half defense to ease past Russia 81-60, remaining the only undefeated team at the U20 European Championship.
Jackson paced the 4-0 French with 24 points while Thomas Heurtel added 13 points and Lamine Sambe had 11 points as France took sole possession of first place in the qualifying round Group E.
Nikos Pappas hit a jumper off the glass with 0.6 seconds left to give hosts Greece a thrilling 73-71 victory over Russia in qualifying round Group E of the U20 European Championship.
Georgios Bogris led five Greek players in double figures with 17 points while Leonidas Kaselakis had 14 points, five rebounds and five assists and Pappas scored 13 points for Kostas Missas's Greece, who improved to 2-1 in the group.
